Research Study for Parents Whose Adult Child has a Serious Mental Illness

You are invited to participate in a research study that focuses on parents who care for an adult child with a serious mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder).

This research study is being done (1) to learn more about how parents manage the day-to-day care of their adult children with serious mental illness and what affects their management style; and (2) to improve mental health care services to families dealing with serious mental illness.

The research study involves an interview with doctoral student and psychiatric nurse, Kathryn Raymond, MS, RN, at a time and place convenient for you.

Participation is voluntary, and all information will be kept confidential.

Participants in the study must be (or have been) involved in the care of an adult child, age 18 or older, with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder. The adult child does not have to live at home.

Ms. Raymond is a psychiatric nurse and PhD student in the nursing program at University of Massachusetts Worcester. She worked for Worcester State Hospital (now the Worcester Recovery Center & Hospital) for 34 years.
